The Founders Award
The Founders Award
With the death of the Order of the Arrow's Founder, Dr. E. Urner Goodman, The National Order of the Arrow Committee decided that the time was right to reinforce the values first established by the founders. The Founder's Award was created in 1981 to honor and recognize those Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to the lodge. The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates to fellow Arrowmen that he or she memorializes in their everyday life, the spirit of achievement as described by Goodman. The award consists of a bronze medallion bearing the likenesses of founder E. Urner Goodman and co-founder Carroll A. Edson. The reverse of the medallion is inscribed with the words, which immortalize the meaning of the award, "For he who serves his fellows, is, of all his fellows, greatest!" Accompanying the medallion is an engraved certificate with appropriate national and local signatures. The recognition piece for the Arrowman's uniform is an arrow ribbon, similar to the universal arrow ribbon, except that it has a gold-colored arrow suspended from a solid red ribbon. Local Lodges may petition the National Committee to present one Founder's Award annually for every 500 lodge members or portion thereof. Since it's inception in 1981, only these Lowwapaneu brothers have received this award.

The Centurion Award
The Centurion Award
The Centurion Award was a one-time recognition associated with the centennial anniversary of the OA that was bestowed by the national Order of the Arrow committee. It was modeled after a similar program in the BSA’s 100th anniversary celebration, the 2010 National Hall of Leadership. The Centurion Award highlighted “Hometown Heroes,” or Arrowmen who have meaningfully contributed to the forming, maturing and ongoing operational excellence of their local council’s lodge, and who, in doing so, inspired others to follow in their footsteps. These honorees will serve as exemplars of leadership, modeling to others a commitment to cheerful service as the Order of the Arrow enters its second century. The award consists of a certificate and recognition ribbon consisting of a red and white ribbon and a metallic totem symbolizing the centennial anniversary of the Order of the Arrow.
The following Arrowmen from Lowwapaneu Lodge are Centurion Award honorees:
- Matthew Beckage
- Eric Chase
- John R. Croom Jr
- John R. Croom III
- Michael Minello
- Nicholas Murley
- David Nuygen
- David Srebro
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA)
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA)
The Distinguished Service Award (DSA) was created in 1940 to honor those who rendered service to the Order beyond the lodge level. The award is presented to Arrowmen, youth and adult, who have rendered distinguished and outstanding service to the Order on a sectional, regional or national basis. Since the time the first awards were presented, less than 1,000 Distinguished Service Awards have been awarded.
The award is a sterling silver arrowhead bearing an arrow pointing up and to the wearer’s right. The award is suspended from a white neck-ribbon on which red arrows are embroidered.
Members from Lowwapaneu Lodge presented with the DSA Award are:
- David J. Nguyen - 2009
- Jordan L. Hughes - 2015
- Michael A. Shostek – 2015
- Donald J. Stephens, Jr - 2018
