Officer and Advisor Blogs
Brothers,
Looking back on 2020, the one thing that has stood out to me the most by far, has been our ability to come together in uncertain times and work unselfishly for the benefit of others. This value is inherent in the core of the Order of the Arrow. The Brotherhood of the OA has carried us through the challenges of the past few months, and will certainly be a vital component of what is to come. With the theme of Building Back Through Brotherhood, the next few months are very promising for our Lodge. The 2021 Officers and I look forward to putting on many new and exciting events, beginning in a virtual setting, and leading into a variety of in person opportunities including the 2021 Conclave at GPSR in June. In order for these efforts to be successful however, we require your help. Whether it be logging on to a virtual meeting or coming out to a Fellowship event at the pond, your participation is essential. Now, more than ever, we must all do our part to fuel the fire of Brotherhood in order to help one another thrive in trying times.

Brothers,
It is hard to believe that this year is already nearing its end. It feels like only yesterday that many of us met for Merit Badge College back in January. I would like to take a moment to reflect on the year, as well as look ahead to what will come.

Brothers,
I hope that this message finds you and your loved ones in good health. Amid the current crisis surrounding the COVID-19 virus, we unfortunately find ourselves with much uncertainty as a global community. It is important to remember however that it is times like this that allow creativity and growth to surface in our society. The situation at hand has the potential to bring out the very best in all of us. Just because social distancing measures are in place does not mean that we cannot continue to be active within the great community that is our brotherhood. The three key ideals of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service could not be more relevant or necessary at this time.

Brothers,
The 2020 Lodge year is officially underway! Your new officers, chairmen, and advisors have been working tirelessly to fill the New Year with many brand new programs and events! At the Lodge Leadership Development earlier this month, we set a vision for the year that outlines our plans moving forward. This vision reads as follows: By the end of 2020, we see our lodge increasing election, activation and induction rates, in order to move closer to becoming a high
performing lodge, while all the while staying true to the OA’s core ideals of brotherhood, cheerfulness, and service.

In recent years, youth membership in the Order of the Arrow has declined significantly throughout the nation. This has impacted lodges with their ability to support councils and deliver program.
The Order must grow, alongside the Scouting movement, to achieve its purpose. The best way to do this is through supporting a “High Performing Lodge” in each council. To help achieve this aim, the National OA Committee approved several significant policy changes at their recent meeting. The following changes take effect immediately:
