Brothers,
In my first months as the Chief of Lowwapaneu Lodge, I have enjoyed a variety of experiences that have truly affirmed my beliefs in the importance of our organization. I have met a plethora of scouters and Arrowmen from across our region, and have had the unique opportunity to interact and engage with many of them. Within this last month, our lodge has attended and provided aid at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council Merit Badge College and Klondike, Two Mountains District Winter Fun Day, and has planned to attend many additional events in the near future. We have done an outstanding job of recognizing and embracing the service goal of our organization.
Our lodge is part of the best Section in the Eastern Region, Section E17. In the beginning of my term, I, alongside a group of 10 lodge chairmen and members, attended the Section E17 Section Leadership Conference. This two-day long event was presented in a different format this year, offering Arrowmen the opportunity to have more time to meet fellow section members by arriving the day before. Multiple of our lodge members did so, while the rest came down the morning of. Our long drive to the Jersey Shore at Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation was well worth it, as the event provided a refreshing opportunity to revitalize our leadership core and learn about the new opportunities our section has to offer. I highly recommend that you look to attend this event, and events similar to it, in the future.
Throughout my months as Chief, I have also gained a greater appreciation for how truly well developed and how set up our lodge is, and the outstanding members that compose our lodge. As I have spoken to fellow Arrowmen, they have been just as impressed. Our lodge cannot function without its members, and its youth members are its voting body. I highly recommend that you become involved with every opportunity the Order of the Arrow has to offer. Attend our Lodge Executive Committee meetings, Activities Committee events, and the many other events that our lodge hosts and participates in.
Scouting’s National Honor Society is based around service, and the service we provide keeps scouting developing and building. As stated by Chief Allowat Sakima in your Ordeal Ceremony, “Friends, the ones who chose you need you.” Will you take this calling and serve the ones who need you?
