OA High Adventure

Being an Arrowmen in the Order of the Arrow gives you access to some amazing opportunities. One of those opportunities is the chance to participate in some of the National High Adventure Program for a fraction of the cost. Arrowmen planning to attend OAHA (OA High Adventure) can expect half of their trek to be committed to service back to the camp and surrounding area, and the other half doing the same kind of treks that anyone attending the High Adventure base would partake in. Repair hundred-years old portage trails in the backwoods of Minnesota, work with environmentalists to protect the ecosystems that make up Florida Sea Base, lay trail in the high altitudes of Philmont, or build infrastructure that will provide program for Scouts at the Summit. All of these programs give you the opportunity to provide service for the thousands of Scouts that attend the High Adventure bases every year. If you want a chance to be part of something bigger than yourself, if you want to work and trek with arrowmen from all over the country, then you need to chase the adventure and sign up for OA High Adventure.

THRIVE

On October 19, members of Lowwapaneu Lodge’s Executive Committee gathered to view the first annual National Webinar, called Thrive. The purpose of this webinar was to inform all 266 lodges about the new system of performance, called the High Performing system. There are three main indicators of performance: Unit Election rate, Induction rate, and Activation rate. The members that were present at Thrive discussed our current metrics of performance for each indicator, and how they can be improved. There was a lot of good discussion, and now our lodge has a baseline for how we can achieve the 3-year goal of a 90% Unit Election rate, a 90% Induction rate, and a 50% Activation rate. At the end, everyone signed a declaration that stated that we would achieve this goal in the next 3 years. At the end of the day, it was a very informative session, and there were a lot of ideas shared that can help the lodge achieve High Performing status.

Chiefly Speaking

Brothers,
What a year it has been for Lowwapaneu! As the year ends, the officers and I find ourselves looking back on how the year went and all that had been accomplished. From hosting a Nintendo Night in the service center to helping with the Acahela Camporees. I found myself friends with more arrow men in our lodge than ever before and that is because of the hard work our LEC did to put on some amazing program for our council and our members.
